1970

Founding of the National Guild

Founding of the National Guild of Electrical Equipment Manufacturers, the predecessor of ANIMEE and the origin of its mission to represent the sector.
1972

First Collective Labour Agreement Proposal

The Union presents the sector’s first proposal for a Collective Labour Agreement (CLA), taking a pioneering role in defending labor relations and organizing the electrical and electronics sector.
1975

Foundation and formalisation of ANIMEE

In September 1975, the National Association of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Manufacturers (ANIMEE) was created.
1976

Institutional formation and representation

With the publication of its bylaws in the *Diário da República*, ANIMEE begins full-scale operations as a business association and strengthens its representativeness through its membership in CIP, ensuring a connection to Business Europe and the European decision-making sphere.
1979

Creation of ENDIEL and ANIMEE Yearbook

Creation of ENDIEL, a biannual trade fair for the sector, and publication of the 1st ANIMEE Yearbook, a snapshot of the Electrical and Electronic Sector, with 40 editions published up to 2017.
1980

European representation of the sector

ANIMEE’s membership in CECAPI—the European Committee of Manufacturers of Electrical Installation Equipment—strengthened its presence and influence at the European level. Subsequently, it joined T&D Europe, the European association of manufacturers of equipment and services for the transmission and distribution of electricity.
1981

Foundation of the IEP

Establishment of the IEP—the Portuguese Electrotechnical Institute—in partnership with CTT and EDP, as a leading organization providing technological support and promoting quality in the sector.
1983

HR Managers Meeting

1st Meeting of HR Managers from Member Companies
1985

Foundation of CINEL

Creation of CINEL, in partnership with IEFP, as a center of excellence in professional training and qualification in the electrical and electronic sector.
1987

Participation in the National Commission for the STAR Community Programme

ANIMEE is a member of the National Commission for the STAR Program, a community initiative to support reindustrialization through advanced telecommunications technologies.
1989

Creation of the Innovation and Creativity Award

Establishment of the Innovation and Creativity Award, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology and IAPMEI, designed to recognize technical and innovative projects by companies or inventors, as announced in ENDIEL.
1995

Creation of the ANIMEE Award

Creation of the ANIMEE Award, designed to recognize school projects in the fields of electricity, electronics, and computer science at secondary and vocational schools.
1996

Foundation of CERTIEL

1998

Environmental Adaptation Agreement between ANIMEE and the Directorate-General for the Environment

ANIMEE coordinates the Environmental Adaptation Agreement with the Directorate-General for the Environment, involving approximately 50 companies and playing a pioneering role in integrating environmental criteria into the sector.
1999

Founding member of CERTIF and affiliation with APCER

ANIMEE is strengthening its role in promoting quality and competitiveness in the sector through the founding of CERTIF, its membership in APCER, and the signing of agreements on best business practices in the electrical equipment market.
2001

Collaboration on the RIAT Project

Collaboration with AGEFE, ANEME, AIMMAP and AECOPs on the RIAT Project - Information and Technical Assistance Networks for SMEs, an initiative of the Ministry of Economy under the Operational Programme for the Economy, aimed at creating public collaborative networks to provide technical support to SMEs, especially in terms of access to the Internet, ICT and e-commerce.
2004

Participation in the LEADOUT community project

At the invitation of the Institute of Welding and Quality (ISQ), between 2004 and 2007 ANIMEE participated in the LEADOUT project, funded by the European Union, with the goal of developing low-cost lead-free welding technologies to help European SMEs comply with environmental directives; the project involved collaboration with European research institutions and industry associations.
2005

Founding member of ANREEE

Establishment of ANREEE—the National Association for the Registration of Electrical and Electronic Equipment—in collaboration with AIMMAP, AGEFE, APIRAC, and the waste management organizations Amb3E and ERP Portugal.
2008

Partnership with T&D Europe

2008

Participation in the ELECTROVALUE Project

Between 2008 and 2011, ANIMEE participated in the ELECTROVALUE Project (LIFE Program), in partnership with ISQ, APEMETA, C3P, EMPLACE, and Interecycling, to promote the recovery and sustainable management of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
2012

Participation in the Regulation of Energy Systems for Air Conditioning in Buildings

Participation in a working group with AGEFE, ETAP-Schreder, Philips, Orsam, Lledosa, and INESC Coimbra to implement the Regulation on Energy Systems for Air Conditioning in Buildings, transposing Directive 2009/91/EC.
2014

Membership in CEMEP

Membership in the European Association of Manufacturers of Electrical and Electronic Power Equipment
