Some factories close when the world changes. Others change with the world, and that is what Versigent Portugal’s facility in Castelo Branco has been doing for 35 years.

ANIMEE recently visited Versigent Portugal’s industrial facility in Castelo Branco, as part of an initiative that reinforces the association’s commitment to closely monitoring the operational realities of its member companies in our sector.

Versigent is a relatively new brand on the industrial landscape, but it is the heir to a long corporate history. It resulted from the global spin-off of Aptiv in 2026, a company that, in turn, emerged from the spin-off within the Delphi group in 2017 and traces its origins in Portugal back to Cablesa.

Today, under the Versigent brand and with nearly 1,000 employees, the facility remains one of the group’s leading plants in Europe and a major asset for the Beira Interior region and the national manufacturing sector. In operation since 1995, the Castelo Branco facility has weathered 35 years of successive changes in branding, technology, and the market, modernizing processes and continuously strengthening its technical expertise, all while maintaining its global leadership in the automotive wiring harness sector.

Versigent’s technological innovations cover the full range of power, signal, and data distribution systems, including the high-speed data systems and high-power electrical systems needed to build the vehicles of the future: those that are more feature-rich, electrified, and highly automated. It is this ability to respond to the technological demands of the new generation of automobiles that reinforces the importance of the Castelo Branco facility within the group’s global strategy.
